How to Install DaButcher Kodi Builds [Step-by-Step 2021]

With Kodi 18.0 Leia it’s time to try out the best Kodi Builds for your favorite devices. These are the builds that are updated every single day.

Kodi is a popular media center that allows you to stream videos, music, and pictures from your computer to your big screen TV. However, with the wide array of apps, features, and add-ons that come along with the media player, learning how to install them yourself can be a daunting task for beginners.  Since I’m so new to Kodi, I’ve just recently learned how to install a whole new Kodi build! (

This guide will walk you through the process of getting DaButcher builds on Kodi. The installation method I used will work on any platform you use Kodi on. These include the Amazon FireStick, computers and mobile phones.

DaButcher is an impressive collection of high quality builds for Kodi. There are all kinds of versions of Kodi here, from the lighter to the more feature-rich. This makes it an excellent choice for both low and high specification Kodi devices. DaButcher is now also included in our list of the best Kodi builds.

In this tutorial, I will install the DaLight version from the DaButcher inventory. However, you can install any other build you want. I love the DaLight Kodi build because it has a simple and incredibly user-friendly interface with a completely new visual design.

Attention KODI users: please read before continuing

Kodi addons / modules offer unlimited streaming content, but can also get you in legal trouble if you get caught watching movies / TV shows / sports for free. Kodi users are strongly advised to always connect a VPN when streaming online. A good Kodi VPN can hide your identity, bypass government surveillance, block content, and ISP throttling (which also contributes to buffer-free streaming).

I use ExpressVPN, which is the fastest and most secure VPN. It is very easy to install on any device, including the Amazon FireStick. Get 3 months free and save 49% on annual plans. There is also a 30 day money back guarantee. If you are not satisfied, you can always ask for a refund.

How to install DaButcher Kodi Builds

The installation process takes about 6-7 minutes, depending on your internet speed and device platform.

The first part of the installation is to configure the security settings and enable unknown sources to allow installation of the build. In the second part we will add the source code, install the repository, install the DaOnly wizard and finally install the build.

Here’s how:

1. On the Kodi home screen, go to Settings by clicking on the cog icon.

2. Open System on Kodi 18 Leia (or open System Preferences if you have Kodi 17.6 Krypton).

3. Select Add-ons from the left sidebar menu.

4. If the Unknown Sources feature is disabled, enable or disable it.

5. DaButcher constructions are safe. I tested them. Go ahead and press Yes.

So you’ve activated the unknown sources we were talking about earlier. Now we follow the basic installation process and get the DaButcher version on Kodi.

6. Press the Back button on the remote control and return to the setup screen.

Tap File Manager

7. On the next screen, click Add Source.

8. This is the window you will see next. Then press <No>.

9. You will now be asked to enter the path to the source. Enter the following URL exactly as shown here:

Press OK.

10. Now select the name field at the bottom of this window and enter a name for this URL that you defined in the previous step.

I chose the name Dubatcher. You can choose the same name or another.

Press OK.

You added a source. We will now install the repository.

11. If you are using Kodi 18 Leia, press the back button repeatedly until you get back to the settings window. Once there, click on Add-ons.

If you have Kodi 17.6 Krypton, go back to the home screen and click Add-ons > Open Window in the top left corner.

12. Click on Install from Zip file.

13. Click on the source name you entered earlier. I’m pushing Dabbatcher.

14. Now open the zip file

Message: The version of the zip file can be changed

15. We are now waiting for the DaButcher repository to be installed. This will only take a minute. A confirmation/installation message appears in the top right corner of the window.

You have successfully installed the repository. We will now install the master.

16. Click on Install from memory.

17. Open the DaButcher repository.

18. Open the add-ons of the program.

19. Click on DaOnlyWizard.

20. Click on the Install button.

22. You should now see the following prompt. Press the Back key or the Next key.

23. If you want to go directly to the creation menu, click on Creation menu. I’m going to click ignore to show you how to access the menu from the home screen.

24. Press the Back button until you see the Kodi home screen. Select (do not click) Extras. You can now find DaOnlyWizard in the Add-ons section of the program. Click on it.

25 You should now see the following interface. Click on the Builds tab in the top left corner.

26. The available versions of DaButcher Kodi are shown on the left. Choose your assembly. As I mentioned earlier, I will be using the DaLight version for the demonstration of this tutorial.

Update: The DaLight version is currently not available. You can try any other construction from the menu.

27. After selecting a version, click Install or Reinstall on the right side of the wizard interface.

If you have a lot of existing Kodi data that you don’t need, I recommend opting for a reinstall. This will remove everything you already have, and you can restart Kodi with the version you want.

28. Click Yes when prompted (this prompt appears only if you previously selected Fresh Setup).

29. Now wait for the DaButcher Kodi version of your choice to download and install. This may take 2 to 3 minutes.

30. After the installation you will be asked to force close Kodi. Then click the OK button.

Now you can open Kodi again and use the build.

Before you start streaming video with Kodi addons or modules, I want to warn you that everything you stream on Kodi is visible to your ISP and the government. This means that streaming copyrighted content (free movies, TV shows, live broadcasts and sports) can lead to legal problems.

Fortunately, there is a reliable way to hide all your streaming activities from your ISP and the government. All you need is a good VPN for Kodi. A VPN masks your original IP address and helps you bypass Internet monitoring, ISP restrictions, and geographic content limitations.

Personally, I use and recommend ExpressVPN, the fastest and most secure VPN. It is compatible with all types of applications and streaming devices.

OPINION: We do not encourage copyright infringement. But what if you accidentally upload content from an illegal source? It is not always easy to distinguish between a legal and an illegal source.

So before you start streaming on Kodi, read here how to get VPN protection in 3 easy steps.

Step one: Purchase your ExpressVPN subscription HERE. It comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. This means you can use it for free for the first 30 days. If you are not satisfied with the service (which is unlikely), you can ask for a full refund.

Step two: Click HERE to download and install the ExpressVPN application on your streaming device. If you are using a FireStick, I have included the exact steps below, starting with step 4.

Step three: Click on the power icon to connect to the VPN server. That’s it. Now your connection is secure with the fastest and best VPN for Kodi.

The steps to install Kodi VPN on Fire TV devices are described below. If you have other broadcast devices, follow steps 1 to 3 above.

Step four: Sign up for ExpressVPN HERE (if you are not already a subscriber).

Step 5: Go to the Fire TV Stick home screen. Click the Search button and then the Search option (see figure below).

Step six: Type expressvpn into the search bar and select when it appears.

Seventh step: Click on the Download button.

Step 8: Open the ExpressVPN application and log in using the username and password you created when you purchased your ExpressVPN subscription.

Step 9: Click on the power icon to connect to the VPN server. That’s it. Now your FireStick is protected with the fastest VPN.

To use DaButcher Kodi assemblies: Overview

DaButcher constructions are easy to use. You’ll master these designs in no time. In this guide, we installed the DaLight package. Let’s take a quick look at that.

Open the Kodi application after installing the build. You will then see the following new home screen. Wait a few minutes while the build configures the add-ons and settings.

If you have used a version of Kodi before, you will notice that the DaLight version has a completely different user interface. Instead of arranging the main menu as a bar, all menu items are placed together on the main screen.

Almost everything you need is available on the home screen of this version. However, it doesn’t have options like movies or TV shows that allow you to start streaming right from the home screen. You must select one of the add-ons options (for example, Preferred Add-ons or All Video Add-ons) to see the list of add-ons. You can then choose an addon and start streaming.

The Kodi version of DaLight comes with a number of pre-installed add-ons including Exodus Redux, SportsDevil, etc. This keeps the structure light. These add-ons contain enough options to let you send just about anything you want.

However, this version also comes with the most popular Kodi repositories in case you want to install other add-ons.

DaButcher offers a decent list of different Kodi builds. These builds are suitable for a wide range of Kodi device platforms, including mobile devices, TVs, Amazon FireStick, computers, etc. I liked all of DaButcher’s builds, but DaLight’s clearly stood out. It’s very lightweight, but offers a unique way to use Kodi.

The interface is refreshingly updated compared to many other versions of Kodi. To keep it small and running smoothly, DaLight offers a few pre-installed add-ons. However, it has several pre-installed repositories that you can use to install add-ons. It’s a good design. Give it a try!

How do I install streamline build on Kodi?

As for me, I’m using the best Kodi build (streamline) around. I’m a fan of the new method of how the builds are managed. The new way is a lot easier to use, and the builds seem to be more stable and reliable as well. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now on my new Nvidia Shield TV, and I’m loving it. I had a major problem installing the latest Kodi and XBMC build “streamline build” on my new Kodi 17 (Krypton) system. The installer doesn’t work properly on my Windows 8.1 system. No matter what I do, it keep telling me the system is not compatible with streamline build. I got fed up, and decided to do it myself. Here’s how I installed the latest Kodi 17 (Krypton) build on my Windows 8.1 system, using the method I used to install the same build on my Android devices.
